The number of online Americans who click on display ads has dropped by 50% since 2007 - and now stands at only 16% of all US internet users, according to updated results from the "Natural Born Clickers" study from comScore, Inc. and Starcom MediaVest.
the article (avail at marketingvox link above) goes on to say the news is not all bad on display advertising - that even though clicks are down 50%, along with the percentage of users who do the clicking, the ads still have exposure value (like a [gasp] "old media" ad! nonetheless, sort of a wakeup call for marketers.

Google Maps car sighting: They’re having lunch, we’re snooping
On our way to lunch today we had a sighting that makes the average geek excited: a Google Maps car, live, in the flesh. These cars are deployed by Google to document the street view imagery on its maps. They also collect geospatial data. It is not the most nondescript article to travel with.
Parked outside a Friendly’s diner, a huge tower carrying telemetry and photography equipmentis installed atop the car.
Inside, the car sports a monitor, bolted into the floor. A wireless keyboard talks to what appears to be a desktop computer in the car’s trunk. As you can see, a long, methodical road-trip necessitates gummy candy and lots of music.
Definitely does not seem like the cushiest gig, but hey, it’s a tough economy.

Few if any have called other deliverymen, and almost all of them are spiritually allergic to store-bought seltzer, with its less-than-explosive carbonation and short fizz life.
“It cleans your tongue in the morning,” Mr. Bernstein said of Mr. Beberman’s seltzer. “It’s like coffee without the caffeine. You drink it ice-cold and it shocks the senses.”
(“Real seltzer should hurt,” said Mr. Gomberg, the factory owner.)
this is the new york I love. of all the cities I have lived in, people in new york were the most supportive (once you were accepted into the neighborhood) and "neighborly"
get past the interesting accent and oddly machine-like intonation of the narrator, and you've got an interesting look at how the web is evolving. connected always and everywhere - great and scary.
