Infographics Made Easy With Piktochart | WebAppStorm

I'll definitely be checking this out!
If you want to hop on the infographic bandwagon, you can always try creating an infographic in any old graphic design program you might have. Unfortunately, without a lot of font and image downloads, you won’t be able to capture the characteristic look of the infographics we all know and love. That’s where Piktochart comes in, a web app which allows you to create and customize infographics for personal and professional use.

Facebook's New Search Doesn't Change Anything, Except On Facebook | Lifehacker

much handwringing in the land about the new facebook graph search. lifehacker says "meh," and I think they're right:

TechCrunch said it's going to "replace a major chunk of Google." The Wall Street Journal called it a "direct competitor" to Google. CNN reports that Yelp's stock is down following the announcement. We, on the other hand, don't think any of this is really related.

Don't get me wrong: Facebook's new search looks very cool, and it's definitely a useful feature for a number of things. But is it going to replace Google, or be the first site someone goes to when they want to search for a new restaurant or band? That seems unlikely. Here's why.

a cool menubar memo pad for the mac

a nice upgrade for one of my most frequently used utilities on the mac. notestab from fiplab is very basic and provides a quick way to jot down a phone number or notes on a web page. if I was more organized I would use evernote or something. then again there are more times when I don't need notes forever, and this does the job nicely. a pro version adds cloud syncing between devices and no ads, but the regular version works well for me.

Google+ Hangouts Show More By Showing Less | TechCrunch

Today, the team announced some new features, nothing “major,” but some really nice things that make the Hangout experience even more enjoyable and easier to use. When you’re in a Hangout, you can now display or hide a new sidebar, which shows you who’s in the room. It also sports a fit-and-finished notification system, which alerts showing in red, actions in blue and announcements in grey. Hangout apps have also been surfaced, illustrating the great work that developers have done using its API.
